Before Bible Study last night, a good friend and I were discussing 'How to find the strength to Pray, even when we're going through'. The answer we reached was to just begin by saying "Thank you, LORD".. Usually when we're going through, it's because 'ungratefulness' has crept in somewhere... Ungratefulness caused by a situation or circumstance we're not particularly pleased with; and the more we begin to ponder on that thing, the more it begins to 'snowball' into something bigger.... (SIDE NOTE: I believe this is why Psalm 100:4 says to enter God's gates with "THANKSgiving, and his courts with PRAISE!")
We're not gonna always 'feel' like praying, we're not gonna always 'feel' like giving God praise.. but I'm here to say that we have to push past our feelings.. We have to get out of our emotions and recall to our mind how good God has been to us! King David said in Psalm 43:5, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disturbed within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." ..... David wanted to have a Pitty-Party, but instead he said to himself, "NOPE. Not this time!" David also said in Psalm 103:1-5, "[1] Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! [2] Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, [3] who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, [4] who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, [5] who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." ....... David recalled to his mind the goodness of the LORD, and at times when we're going through; we just have to recall to our mind the goodness of the LORD ..... Stay encouraged. |
