Recorded in Matthew 19:16-30, is a Rich Young Man who meets Jesus and asks Him, "what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" Jesus asks the Young Man has he kept all of the commandments, and he replies, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” Then Jesus told the Young Man to give up everything; sacrifice everything and follow Him. But he could not do it, and he "went away sorrowful" because he had too much to lose.
This guy believed in Jesus right up to the point that it was going to cost him something, and then he bailed. (This causes me to wonder if he really believed in the first place). Sometimes, a hard decision comes our way, but in that moment it shows us what we really believe. "A faith that costs nothing is worth nothing." - William MacDonald Comments are closed.
